Queen 90 Inch x 108 Inch Hobbs Heirloom 100% Wool Wadding
Ref: WL90
Hobbs Bonded Fibres developed this wool batting to be a natural fibre alternative to polyester for the discriminating quilter. With proper care, wool is long and hard wearing. This batting could very likely outlive the cover fabric of the quilt.
Heirloom Wool is resin bonded to provide resistance to fibre migration, outstanding hand quilting. The finest wool batting in the world. As a natural fibre wool it is more absorptive than any other fibre. It breathes and acts as a natural insulator helping to maintain a comfortable temperature in summer or winter. Exceptionally easy to quilt by hand or machine, beards less than any other wool batting.
Why Wool? *Wool Batting provides superb insulation. The fibre breathes, allowing excess heat to disperse away from the body. *Wool gives warmth without weight. It is naturally hygroscopic and can absorb up to 30% its own weight in moisture without feeling damp. *Tiny fibres trap air, forming an insulating barrier that gives warmth in a lightweight batt. *Loft retention is excellent, as the fibre sticks to itself to create airspace, instead of relying solely on resins to glue the airspace together. *Heirloom Wool can be quilted up to 3" apart. *Heirloom Wool is lightly resonated to provide and retard fibre migration. *Hobbs Heirloom Wool batts are naturally mildew resistant to moth damage when quilted with cotton fabrics. Use and Care *Heirloom Wool is made with chlorinated treated wool which is intended to prevent shrinkage. *Items made using Heirloom Wool can be washed by hand or using the gentle cycle of the washer. Agitate as little as possible when wet. Agitation could cause felting in wet wool. *Use only tepid or lukewarm water, for both washing or rinsing. The temperature of baby bath water is correct. DO NOT CHANGE WATER TEMPERATURE FROM WASHING TO RINSING. *Use only an extremely gentle wool detergent when washing the finished product. Orvus Paste is highly recommended. Wash the article as you would a fine cashmere sweater. *Rinse thoroughly. Be sure that the water runs clear during the last spin cycle. Spin on gentle to remove all excess water. *It is recommended to dry quilt flat. DRYING IN THE DRYER IS NOT RECOMMENDED. Shrinkage could result because of varying thermostats and lack of temperature control of different dryers. The heat and tumble action in the dryer can cause shrinkage in the fabric and batting, as well as damage the dyes on the surface of the fabrics. *When drying flat, block and square the quilt on an absorbing surface, such as towels. The use of a fan oscillating over the surface will speed the drying process considerably. *Once the quilt is just barely damp, it can be fluffed in the dryer on AIR only. No heat. Remove promptly.
