Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 Wadding King Size 120 Inch x 120 Inch
Ref: HL120
Hobbs Bonded Fibres has developed this cotton batting to be a natural fibre alternative to polyester for the discriminating quilter. Heirloom is wonderful to quilt for HAND or MACHINE quilters and can be quilted up to 3½ inches apart.
Why cotton? *Heirloom Cotton is made from 80% long staple cotton fibres and 20% polyester. The combination of these fibres creates a strong, long wearing batt, and is very easy to work with. *Hobbs Heirloom Cotton will give your quilts the flatter, more traditional look of the antique quilts, without the need for excessive quilting. *Heirloom Cotton can be quilted as close as close as ¼ inch and as far as 3½ inches apart. Close quilting will be very flat, and the more space between the quilting will give a slight amount of loft. *This batting is lightly needle punched and resinated with a soft resin to provided stability of the fibre and prevent the polyester from bearding. This process makes Heirloom cotton batting uniquely easy to quilt by hand. *Heirloom Cotton will shrink slightly, to give the characteristics of antique quilts, this product may be pre soaked if no shrinkage is desired. *Heirloom provides warmth, yet it breathes for comfort. It drapes beautifully, yet does not stretch during the quilting process or when hung. Use and Care *If used new, straight from the package, Heirloom Cotton can shrink up to 5%. This allows the batt to shrink after quilting and create the desired look of antique puckering. *The batting can be gently pre-soaked if puckering is not desired. To pre-shrink, fill the washer with tepid water. No detergent! Open the batting and gently immerse in water. Shut washer off and soak for 5-10 minutes. Do Not Agitate! Spin to remove excess water. Dry batting on air or fluff cycle. Remove immediately. *Cotton Quilts can be washed many times, and tend to become softer and more beautiful with time. Keep your quilts clean. *!Use only a very gentle detergent like Orvus that does not contain phosphorus. This type of detergent is safe for the batting as well as the fabric. *Using your washing machine as a vehicle for water, wash in tepid water. Agitate manually. A 15 minute wash cycle if sufficient. *Rinse in tepid water until all detergent is removed, agitate manually. *Spin excess water out. *Dry quilts flat. Dryers can be very damaging to batting as well as the dyes on the surface of the fabric. *When the quilt is just barely damp, it can be placed in the dryer on air for a few minutes to fluff and soften the batting and the fabric.
